The Call of Motherhood
“Many people have children, but do not want to be parents. Our culture has convinced them that they need to quench their personal thirst for fulfillment. In a self-absorbed culture, children are a clear liability.
Thus, parents spend minimal time with their children. The notion of quality time is more attractive than the old idea of quantity time. “
This is a quote from a book Joseph and I started reading 2 nights ago entitled Shepherding a Child’s Heart written by Tedd Tripp. It’s a very good parenting book recommended by our pastor, that talks about how parents should focus not on the “what” of behavior but most importantly on the “why”. Fathers and mothers should realize that behind the straying behavior of a child is a straying heart. We have to make our children understand what makes them do what they do, the sin in their heart and their need for grace.
